Labor Day

Labor Day is on the horizon and let’s face it, we all love to grill up some hot dogs and hamburgers while we kick our feet up on this wonderful holiday. Have you ever wondered why we celebrate this holiday or do you just see it as another day off? How about a history lesson?

Beginning in the late 19th century, as the trade union and labor movements grew, trade unionists proposed that a day be set aside to celebrate labor. “Labor Day” was promoted by the Central Labor Union and the Knights of Labor, which organized the first parade in New Your City. In 1887, Oregon was the first state to make it an official public holiday. By the time it became an official federal holiday in 1894, 30 US states officially celebrated Labor Day. –Wikipedia

Now that you have that little nugget of knowledge, you can appreciate Labor Day a bit more! While youre outside grilling up a storm with your guests drinking beers and sangria, they will eventually have to go to the restoom. To save your house from the foot traffic and dirt, you had the foresight to order one of Pot-O-Gold’s fantastic porta potties and a wonderful handwash station. Our porta potty provids a fantasic restroom solution for those holding a gathering and our hand wash stations make it easy to keep your hands sanitary. There’s a lot of food around at these parties after all.

The Toilet/People Ratio

Everyone loves a good event! Anything from a concert, to an art festival, to a triathlon people will come in droves. You, as a smart business person, must be prepared to take care of all of these people. Food, drink, and shops are a given, but what about when nature comes calling. People need a place to answer that call without leaving your event or answering it in the bushes. Pot-O-Gold’s portable toilets are the best answer to that problem. You need to ask yourself a few questions in preparation for your order. How many people do you think will attend this event? Does this event span over multiple days? How many of the attendees do you expect to be women? Will there be alcohol? How many hours a day will this event be going on? All of these are questions that must be factored in for you to successfully order proper amount of porta potties. The more people there are, the more toilets you will need. If there is alcohol avaliable, you may want to increase the amount of toilets ordered by 10-15%. If the majority of the attendees are women, you may want to do the same increase. The larger this event becomes, the harder it is to factor everything in so Pot-O-Gold has made you a little cheat sheet. Shhhh, don’t worry! We won’t tell if you won’t! It doesn’t have every factor I listed, but it’s a very good rule of thumb! How many toilets do you need

Meet the Staff: Kyle Mathews

Welcome back to Meet the Staff! Today’s subject is Kyle Mathews. Kyle was born in Mesa, Arizona on June 7th, 1988.

He has been with Pot-O-Gold since January 2017 and is currently working as a route driver for the Phoenix division proving why, in Phoenix, he’s “#1 in the #2 business.” When he isn’t running a route and delivering toilets he is studying construction management at Arizona State University.

His hobbies include fly fishing, big game hunting, camping, eating (I think that may be everybody’s favorite hobby), and enjoying the life of an adventurer. Speaking of food, his favorite food is Mexican especially if it’s from Adrian’s restaurant, but also loves to eat what he makes from the big game he hunts, specializing in Elk meat tacos. Being the adventurer that he is, his ideal vacation is a cabin in the woods where he can get away from it all and enjoy the peace of nature.

He has been married to his lovely wife Emily for over 3 years and they have a beautiful 9 month old son, Roan (pronounced R-own)

Fun facts? Kyle is a trained welder and has travelled in the past for welding jobs, helping to further his adventuring. And when he isn’t contemplating the idea of possibly going to the gym, he listens to his favorite heavy metal band, Tool.
